Krispy Kreme – London
“Salvation, thy name is Krispy Kreme.” Luckily, the food Nazis have not banned these in the UK, as they have in the US. They are in most of the rail stations. There used to be one in Harrods, but it is gone. 🙁 http://www.krispykreme.com/storelocatoruk.html

Loco Mexicano
We’re definitely not in California anymore! Coming from a community that is 50% Mexican, you can be sure I was not overly impressed with the UK version. This place was not bad, just not what you get at home. No free chips and salsa at the table; no soft corn tortillas. But I must admit minted lamb fajitas are not too bad!

McDonald’s (free WiFi) – Next to Westminster Cathedral – London
Most McDonald’s in London have free WiFi. The one on Victoria St. next to Westminster Cathedral has better wireless than the one in Victoria Station. My friend Rash was outraged when she found out I ate several times at McDonalds and Burger King and Krispy Kreme while in London. Oddly enough, sometimes they are the best thing going.

This is another nice breakfast place. Not the same outfit that is in Victoria Place (or if it is, this one is better)!

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese
“Nestled inconspicuously on Fleet Street near the intersection of Farrington Street, Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese pub is the epitome of a traditional English pub. There’s been a pub in this location dating back to 1538, until it was destroyed in London’s Great Fire of 1666 and rebuilt only a year later, possibly with some of the original materials.”:

Portobello Market
This is a street market. Saturday is antiques day.
By Tube, the best way of all … go to Notting Hill Gate Station and follow the crowd – yes really, you can’t go wrong! The market starts about a five minute walk from the tube station.

“I would agree that arriving early is a good thing, but realistically 9-10am is quite soon enough, it begins to get crowded at 11.30 onwards, which is fine if you have already got your bearings.”

Sainsbury’s Local – London
Sainsbury’s is a grocery store chain; a “Sainsbury Local” is a condensed version, but good place to find bottled water, sandwiches, and sundry items. They are all over the place, but this is the one closest to the VPT.

Boots – London
Boots is a drug store/pharmacy chain. They are all over the place; at least 2 in Victoria station.

Apparently this has been removed. Not clear if it is going to return or not. This is a small clock tower in the middle of the traffic island opposite the VPT. Good place to meet up with people.

Piccadilly Circus – London
The “Times Square” of London

The London Eye – London
In my opinion the best way to enjoy this is to walk up to someone who has been on it, ask themhow it looked from up there, and then move on! LOL You will not get me on this thing!

London Walks Tours – London
www.walks.com – London Walks is a great tour company.
The coolest thing about them is that there is no commitment up front. You just show up for the tour you want to go on and hand the guide your money. No reservations required!
They have morning, afternoon and evening walking tours of London.
They also have day tours away from London, and still promise to get you back in time for the shows (but they cut it close).
The tour guide I had on my trip to the Cotswolds and Oxford was amazing.
(This icon does not point at their offices or anything like that; I just kind of plopped it down near the VPT.)

Madame Tussauds – London

A Nice Sunday Walk – London
One Sunday I walked from the VPT down Victoria St., past Westminster Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, Parliament (w/ Big Ben), across the bridge and along the south bank of the Thames. I crossed back over on the Millenium Bridge, which gives a lovely framed view of St. Pauls. If your timing is right you can stop by for services, or just go in to look around. I then proceeded back towards Victoria, through Covent Garden.
Yes, a very long walk but I had a lot of time. This walk also takes you past the reproduction of the Globe Theatre, and numerous other London landmarks!
